Seoul and Tokyo both open at 9:00 AM
Seoul and Tokyo both use UTC+9 and neither uses daylight saving time. The Tokyo cash market and the KRX regular session both open at 9:00 AM, with the GradTraders livestream beginning shortly beforehand.
The Challenge uses simulated funds, with performance updated weekly through the livestream archive and the Matthew Jackson Trading Record.
For Korean captions: turn on CC in YouTube, then choose Settings → Subtitles → Auto-translate → Korean. If auto-translation is not available during the live broadcast, check the replay afterwards.
For FX margin trading, check the authorised Korean route first
Korea Financial Investment Association (KOFIA) says individuals trading FX margin must use a domestic investment intermediary and that direct trading with overseas financial investment firms is illegal. The first check is therefore whether the route is part of Korea’s authorised financial system.
You can still use GradTraders research to compare global brokers on platforms, costs, execution, products and legal entities. For an actual FX-margin account in South Korea, verify the domestic authorised route separately.
1. Check the authorised Korean financial firm
Use KOFIA’s authorised financial-investment-company search and the Financial Supervisory Service FINE portal to verify the firm you intend to use. For FX margin, the key issue is whether the account is accessed through an authorised domestic intermediary.
2. Use global broker research for comparison
Use the GradTraders research bank to compare platforms, costs, execution, products and legal entities. Actual account availability in South Korea should still be checked through the authorised local route.
South Korea regulatory point: a Korean-language website or the ability to access an overseas provider from Korea does not prove domestic authorisation. Check the actual trading route and registration status first.

For Korean FX margin, the authorised domestic route matters more than the overseas brand
KOFIA’s current investor guidance warns clearly about direct overseas FX-margin trading and unlicensed introductions. Before opening an account or sending money, make these checks.
Check that a domestic investment intermediary is involved
KOFIA says individuals trading FX margin without going through a domestic investment intermediary are engaging in illegal direct overseas transactions.
Check that the financial company is authorised
Even if the brand is familiar, verify whether the actual company is part of Korea’s authorised financial-investment system. Transactions with illegal financial-investment businesses can be difficult to protect through domestic dispute-resolution channels.
Prop firms and software are separate from broker authorisation
