Matthew Jackson Trading Record
My documented Nikkei 225 demo trading record, built from full livestreams, visible account balances and original chart evidence.
About this Nikkei 225 trading record
This page records my weekly £200 Nikkei Trading Challenge from its original £1,000 simulated balance. Each report combines my complete YouTube livestream with the key entry, trade-management and final-balance frames visible in the recording. I want the record to show my decisions, profitable periods, drawdowns and completed results rather than present isolated winning screenshots.
Across my first sixteen sessions, I recorded eight profitable weeks and eight losing weeks. My latest recorded balance is £1,359.09, a cumulative change of +£359.09. This is a high-risk demo exercise, not an independently audited live-money performance record, and it should not be treated as evidence of likely future returns.

Week 1: £252.95 demo profit
A 150-unit Japan 225 long from 68,767 exceeded the £200 target and closed with £252.95 simulated profit.
Trade setup
I entered 150 JP225 units long at 68,767 after price accelerated from consolidation. My initial protective level was near 68,480.
Trade management
Open profit reached £245.98 while the rising one-minute structure remained intact.
Week 1 result
The trade closed with no position remaining and a simulated balance of £1,252.95.
What happened
I began Week 1 with a £1,000 simulated balance. After the Japan 225 accelerated away from consolidation, I opened 150 units long at 68,767, with my protective level shown near 68,480. The position moved steadily in my favour as the one-minute structure continued higher.
My open profit reached £245.98, exceeding the challenge’s £200 session target. I then closed the trade with no position remaining, leaving a recorded balance of £1,252.95 and a weekly change of +£252.95. The size and planned downside made this an aggressive demo trade despite the profitable result.

Back to overviewWeek 2: £200.71 demo loss
A 150-unit Japan 225 short reached £65.38 open profit before reversing; the recorded balance ended at £1,052.24.
Trade setup
A 150-unit JP225 short was opened around 71,841 with approximately £200 risk and a matching target.
Trade reversal
Open profit reached £65.38 and size was reduced to 90 units. Price then recovered against the remaining short.
Week 2 result
Recorded balance was £1,052.24. Equity was £1,050.33 because a 0.55-lot USDJPY long remained open at −£1.91.
What happened
I started Week 2 from the £1,252.95 balance recorded after the first session. I opened 150 Japan 225 units short around 71,841 with approximately £200 of planned risk and a similar profit objective. The short initially worked, reaching £65.38 in open profit before I reduced the position to 90 units.
Price then recovered against my remaining short and erased the early advantage. My recorded balance finished at £1,052.24, a weekly decline of £200.71. Equity was slightly lower at £1,050.33 because I still had a separate 0.55-lot USDJPY long open at a £1.91 unrealised loss when the stream ended.

Back to overviewWeek 3: £189.00 demo profit
An 80-unit Japan 225 long moved from profit into drawdown and recovered before the account closed at £1,241.24.
Trade setup
During the stream, the balance was £1,149.48 before the documented 80-unit long from 68,719.
Wide P/L swing
The position moved from £91.78 open profit to £74.18 open loss as price rotated through the intraday range.
Week 3 result
The trade was closed before the end. Final balance was £1,241.24 with no open position.
What happened
I began Week 3 from the previous £1,052.24 recorded balance. By the documented Japan 225 setup, my visible balance had reached £1,149.48 before I opened 80 units long from 68,719. The trade initially showed £91.78 in open profit but then rotated sharply through the intraday range.
The same position later displayed a £74.18 open loss before recovering. I closed it before the stream ended, with no position remaining and a final balance of £1,241.24. That produced a £189.00 weekly increase, but the wide unrealised swing showed how much risk I carried while holding through volatile price action.

Back to overviewWeek 4: £204.23 demo loss
A 120-unit Japan 225 long briefly moved positive before reversing into the planned loss area.
Trade setup
I opened 120 JP225 units long at 70,227 with my protective level near 69,868.
Trade reversal
The position briefly moved positive before a sharp drop produced £146.90 open loss.
Week 4 result
The trade closed with no position remaining and a final simulated balance of £1,037.01.
What happened
I opened Week 4 with a simulated balance of £1,241.24. I bought 120 Japan 225 units at 70,227, with my protective level visible near 69,868. The long briefly moved into profit, but the attempted breakout did not hold and price reversed quickly against my position.
My open loss reached £146.90 as the market approached the planned risk area. I closed the position with no trade remaining and a final balance of £1,037.01, producing a £204.23 weekly loss. My stop kept the outcome close to the predefined limit, although the entry itself failed to gain sustained follow-through.

Back to overviewWeek 5: £207.08 demo loss
Two 120-unit Japan 225 long attempts failed, reducing the recorded simulated balance to £829.93.
First long attempt
A 120-unit long from 68,901 failed to hold. Closing it reduced the balance to £930.69.
Second long attempt
I re-entered 120 units long from 68,881. My second position later showed an £84.15 open loss.
Week 5 result
The second trade also closed at a loss. Final balance was £829.93 with no open position.
What happened
I started Week 5 from £1,037.01 and made two separate Japan 225 long attempts. My first was 120 units from 68,901. When that trade failed to hold, I closed it and my visible balance fell to £930.69 rather than allowing the original position to continue unchecked.
I then re-entered with another 120-unit long from 68,881. The second attempt also moved against me and later showed an £84.15 open loss. I closed it before the end of the recording, leaving no position and a final balance of £829.93. My combined weekly decline was £207.08, with the re-entry compounding the first loss.

A 150-unit Japan 225 short produced the main recovery before a second long trade; final balance reached £1,218.56.
Short trade recovery
A 150-unit short from 65,225 reached £190.87 open profit. After closure, the recorded balance was £1,195.89.
Second trade
A 150-unit long from 64,757 moved from £71.44 open loss to £115.38 open profit.
Week 6 result
Both positions were closed before the end. Final balance was £1,218.56.
What happened
I began Week 6 from the record’s lowest week-end balance of £829.93. I first opened 150 Japan 225 units short from 65,225. That position developed strongly, reaching £190.87 in open profit and lifting my recorded balance to £1,195.89 after I closed it.
I then opened a second trade: 150 units long from 64,757. It first showed a £71.44 open loss before recovering to £115.38 in open profit. I had no position remaining at the end and my final balance was £1,218.56, a £388.63 weekly increase. The recovery was substantial, but I used aggressive size relative to the simulated account on both trades.

A 100-unit Japan 225 long reached £108.96 open profit before reversing into the planned stop.
Trade setup
I opened 100 JP225 units long at 64,752 after the sharp selloff, with my stop at 64,315.18.
Profit reversal
Open profit reached £108.96 before the same position reversed to £183.07 open loss.
Week 7 result
The stop sold 100 units at 64,315. Final balance was £1,018.52 with no open position.
What happened
I began Week 7 with a simulated balance of £1,218.56. After a sharp Japan 225 selloff, I opened 100 units long at 64,752 with my stop set at 64,315.18. The position initially moved well and reached £108.96 in open profit, giving me a meaningful unrealised gain.
The market then reversed completely. The same trade later showed a £183.07 open loss before my stop sold all 100 units at 64,315. My final balance was £1,018.52, a weekly loss of £200.04 and a cumulative gain of £18.52 from the original £1,000 demo balance. My stop contained the loss, but I retained none of the earlier profit.

A 120-unit Japan 225 long from 63,027 recovered from a £171.16 open loss, later reached £488.38 open profit and closed with a £303.62 gain.
Trade setup
I opened 120 JP225 units long at 63,027. The initial target was 63,294.46 and the protective stop was 62,676.51.
Drawdown and recovery
The trade showed a £171.16 open loss before recovering. Open profit later reached £488.38 as I adjusted the target and eventually raised the stop above entry.
Week 8 result
I manually sold all 120 units at 63,560. The final simulated balance was £1,322.14 with no position remaining.
What happened
I began Week 8 from the £1,018.52 balance recorded after the previous session. After waiting through the early market movement, I opened 120 Japan 225 units long at 63,027. My initial take-profit level was 63,294.46 and my protective stop was 62,676.51, placing the planned downside close to the challenge’s £200 session risk limit.
The position did not move cleanly in my favour. It later showed a £171.16 open loss before recovering. As the market strengthened, I adjusted the profit target several times and eventually moved the stop above my entry price to protect a profitable outcome. The highest open profit captured in the recording was £488.38.
I did not close at that high. I later manually sold all 120 units at 63,560, leaving no position open and a final balance of £1,322.14. That produced a £303.62 weekly gain and lifted the cumulative record to +£322.14 from the original £1,000 simulated balance. The result was strong, although £184.76 of the highest visible open profit was not retained.

A first 120-unit Japan 225 long from 66,245 reached £176.32 open profit before closing with a smaller gain; a second long sequence lifted the final balance to £1,490.44.
First long
I opened 120 JP225 units long at 66,245. The recording later showed £176.32 in open profit before the move retraced.
Second long sequence
After closing the first trade, I re-entered with 120 units at 66,480 and added 30 units at 66,465. The combined position later showed more than £100 in open profit.
Week 9 result
All positions were closed before the end. The final simulated balance was £1,490.44, a weekly increase of £168.30.
What happened
I began Week 9 from the £1,322.14 balance recorded after Week 8. I opened 120 Japan 225 units long at 66,245 after the market had sold off sharply and started to recover. The position moved in my favour quickly, and the recording showed £176.32 in open profit at 14:00.
I did not retain the full unrealised gain. Price pulled back and I later closed the first position with the account balance at £1,397.07, a realised increase of £74.93 from the start of the session. I then re-entered on the long side with 120 units at 66,480 and added a further 30 units at 66,465, taking the second sequence to 150 units in total.
The second sequence initially moved around breakeven and into a small combined loss before recovering. The recording later showed £109.85 in combined open profit. I closed all remaining positions before the end of the session, leaving a final balance of £1,490.44. That added £93.37 after the first trade and produced a total Week 9 gain of £168.30, taking the cumulative record to +£490.44 from the original £1,000 simulated balance.

Back to overviewWeek 10: £78.33 demo loss
A first 130-unit Japan 225 long lost £103.66. A later 130-unit short recovered £25.33, leaving the final simulated balance at £1,412.11.
First long
I bought 130 JP225 units at 68,993. The trade moved against me and I later sold all 130 units at 68,821, reducing the balance to £1,386.78.
Second short
I later sold 130 units short at 68,773. The position reached £168.25 in open profit before a long retracement reduced most of that unrealised gain.
Week 10 result
I closed the remaining short with £25.33 realised profit. The final simulated balance was £1,412.11, a weekly decline of £78.33.
What happened
I began Week 10 from the £1,490.44 balance recorded at the end of Week 9. My first trade was a 130-unit Japan 225 long at 68,993. The move failed to follow through and I sold the full position at 68,821. The account balance fell to £1,386.78, which made the first trade a £103.66 realised loss.
I then waited before taking a second position. I sold 130 Japan 225 units short at 68,773. The short developed strongly and the recording later showed £168.25 in open profit. I did not bank that high. Price recovered and much of the unrealised gain disappeared while I continued to hold the position.
Near the end of the session, the short was showing £25.33 in open profit and I closed it. That recovered £25.33 of the earlier loss and left no position open. My final recorded balance was £1,412.11, producing a Week 10 loss of £78.33 and leaving the ten-session challenge £412.11 above its original £1,000 simulated starting balance.

A 150-unit Japan 225 long from 66,263 moved against me and was stopped at 65,973, producing an unfortunate maximum session loss and leaving the simulated balance at £1,211.51.
Trade setup
I opened 150 JP225 units long at 66,263. The protective stop was set at 65,975.11, keeping the intended downside close to the challenge’s £200 session limit.
Trade reversal
The long failed to follow through and moved steadily against me. The recording later showed an unrealised loss of £153.55 as price continued towards the stop.
Week 11 result
The stop executed all 150 units at 65,973. The final simulated balance was £1,211.51, an unfortunate maximum session loss of £200.60.
What happened
I began Week 11 from the £1,412.11 balance recorded at the end of Week 10. After waiting through the early price action, I opened 150 Japan 225 units long at 66,263. My protective stop was set at 65,975.11, placing the planned downside close to the challenge’s £200 session limit.
The trade did not develop in my favour. Price weakened after entry and the position moved progressively into drawdown. Later in the recording the open loss had reached £153.55, with the market continuing towards the level where I had already defined the maximum loss for the session.
The stop eventually executed all 150 units at 65,973. My final recorded balance was £1,211.51, producing an unfortunate Week 11 loss of £200.60. The result reduced the cumulative gain from the original £1,000 simulated balance to +£211.51. There was no attempt to recover the loss with another trade after the stop was hit.

An 80-unit Japan 225 long produced the first £74.95 gain, before two later 100-unit longs added another £95.09 and lifted the final simulated balance to £1,381.55.
First long
I opened 80 JP225 units long at 64,815 after the early selloff. The trade later showed £76.79 in open profit and was closed with the account balance at £1,286.46, a realised gain of £74.95.
Second long sequence
I later opened two 100-unit Japan 225 longs, at 65,370 and 65,412. Together they reached £117.23 in open profit before I closed the sequence.
Week 12 result
The second sequence added £95.09. With all positions closed, the final simulated balance was £1,381.55 and the full Week 12 gain was £170.04.
What happened
I began Week 12 from the £1,211.51 balance recorded after Week 11. After the Japan 225 sold off sharply, I opened 80 units long at 64,815. The position recovered from the intraday low and later showed £76.79 in open profit. I closed that first trade with the account balance at £1,286.46, banking £74.95.
The session did not end there. I later returned to the long side with 100 units at 65,370 and added another 100 units at 65,412. The two positions moved higher together and the recording showed £117.23 in combined open profit before I closed them. That second sequence realised a further £95.09.
All positions were closed before the end of the livestream. My final recorded balance was £1,381.55, producing a Week 12 gain of £170.04. That lifted the twelve-session cumulative record to +£381.55 from the original £1,000 simulated balance, with six profitable weeks and six losing weeks.

Two 100-unit Japan 225 longs from 66,174 and 66,164 recovered from an early drawdown, later reached £173.62 in combined open profit and closed with the simulated balance at £1,551.41.
Two long entries
I held two 100-unit JP225 long positions, filled at 66,174 and 66,164. The combined position initially moved into drawdown.
Recovery and open profit
The two longs recovered as price pushed higher. At 30:00 the recording showed £84.44 and £89.18 open profit, or £173.62 combined.
Week 13 result
Both positions were closed before the end of the livestream. The final simulated balance was £1,551.41, a Week 13 gain of £169.86.
What happened
I began Week 13 from the £1,381.55 balance recorded after Week 12. During the session I built two separate 100-unit Japan 225 long positions, one filled at 66,174 and the other at 66,164. The trade did not move cleanly in my favour at first: around 9:30 the combined position was showing a £53.99 unrealised loss.
The market then recovered and the two longs moved into profit. By 15:30 both fill prices were visible in the position table and the combined open profit had turned positive. Later in the stream, at 30:00, the two positions were showing £84.44 and £89.18 open profit respectively, a combined unrealised gain of £173.62.
I closed both positions before the livestream ended. The final recorded balance was £1,551.41 with no open position remaining, producing a Week 13 gain of £169.86. That lifted the thirteen-session cumulative record to +£551.41 from the original £1,000 simulated balance, with seven profitable weeks and six losing weeks.

Back to overviewWeek 14: £198.68 demo loss
Six Japan 225 trades produced two winners and four losers. A strong fourth-trade recovery reduced the damage, but the session ultimately closed with the simulated balance at £1,352.73.
First two trades
A 60-unit short from 63,061 added £37.56, taking the balance to £1,588.97. The next 150-unit long from 62,988 then lost £143.71 and reduced the balance to £1,445.26.
Mid-session recovery
A 130-unit short from 62,771 lost £62.58. I then switched long with 75 units from 62,196 and recovered £107.60, lifting the balance back to £1,490.28.
Week 14 result
A 75-unit short from 63,169 lost £41.16 and a final 75-unit long from 63,276 lost £96.39. All positions were closed with the balance at £1,352.73.
What happened
I began Week 14 from the £1,551.41 balance recorded after Week 13 and traded much more actively than in the previous session. My first position was a 60-unit Japan 225 short from 63,061. The recording showed £63.60 in open profit before I eventually closed the trade with a realised gain of £37.56, raising the balance to £1,588.97.
I then opened 150 units long from 62,988. That trade moved heavily against me, showing £147.43 in open loss during the session before I closed it for a £143.71 realised loss. The balance fell to £1,445.26. A third trade, 130 units short from 62,771, then lost another £62.58 and reduced the balance to £1,382.68.
The fourth trade produced the main recovery. I bought 75 units at 62,196 and the position later showed £127.44 in open profit. I closed it with £107.60 realised profit, taking the balance back to £1,490.28. I then sold 75 units short from 63,169, but that fifth trade lost £41.16 and left the balance at £1,449.12.
My sixth and final trade was a 75-unit long from 63,276. It failed to recover enough and I closed it for a £96.39 loss. With no position remaining, the final Week 14 balance was £1,352.73. Across six trades I recorded two winners and four losers, producing a net weekly loss of £198.68. The fourteen-session cumulative record therefore stands at +£352.73 from the original £1,000 simulated balance, with seven profitable weeks and seven losing weeks.

Trade setup
I sold 180 JP225 units short from 65,407. The recording shows an initial stop at 65,620 and a take-profit level at 64,885.03.
Trade management
The short moved steadily into profit. At 13:00 in the recording, the open profit displayed £236.45 while the position remained active.
Week 15 result
I closed the position before the end of the livestream. The final simulated balance was £1,559.18, a Week 15 gain of £206.45.
What happened
I began Week 15 from the £1,352.73 balance recorded after Week 14. I opened one 180-unit Japan 225 short from 65,407. The order display showed a stop at 65,620 and a take-profit level at 64,885.03, giving the trade a defined structure from the start.
The position moved in my favour as Japan 225 sold off. At 9:00 in the recording the trade was showing £56.53 in open profit. By 13:00, the open profit had expanded to £236.45 while the short remained active.
I closed the position before the end of the livestream rather than waiting for the displayed take-profit level. With no open position remaining, the final recorded balance was £1,559.18. That produced a Week 15 gain of £206.45 and lifted the fifteen-session cumulative record to +£559.18 from the original £1,000 simulated balance, with eight profitable weeks and seven losing weeks.
