Nikkei 225 Live Trading Canada: Sunday Evening & Trading Record
Watch Matthew Jackson, founder of GradTraders.com, trade the Tokyo cash-market open every Monday in the GradTraders £200 simulated-funds Nikkei 225 Challenge. In Canada, the session falls on Sunday evening, before North American cash markets reopen on Monday.
This page brings together the GradTraders partners and trading solutions that make the most sense for Canadian traders, with links to our wider broker, prop-firm and software research for deeper comparison.
Disclosure & Risk Notice: GradTraders provides education and research, not personal financial advice. CFDs, forex, futures and other leveraged products can cause substantial losses, while prop-firm evaluations can result in lost fees. Some broker, prop-firm and software links on this page are affiliate links; GradTraders may earn a commission from an eligible account or purchase at no additional cost to you. Commercial relationships do not determine the editorial order. View current partner routes and disclosures.
Follow more than one session: the Matthew Jackson Trading Record keeps winning and losing sessions, balances, commentary, replay links and chart evidence together so you can judge the Challenge over time.
What time is the Nikkei 225 session in Canada?
The session begins every Monday at 9:00 AM Japan Standard Time, when the Tokyo cash market opens. Across Canada, that is still Sunday evening.
Where a province changes clocks, the standard-time start is generally one hour earlier. Saskatchewan and Yukon use different year-round arrangements, so check your local clock if you are outside the main examples above.
The Challenge uses simulated funds, with its performance updated weekly through the livestream archive and the Matthew Jackson Trading Record.
Plus500CA leads for a simple native platform and a direct Canadian route
Plus500CA is the GradTraders Native Platform Specialist for Canada. Its user-friendly proprietary web and mobile platform suits traders who want a simple, self-contained setup rather than building around third-party platforms or automation. The Canadian route is also easy to verify: CIRO admitted Plus500CA Ltd as an investment dealer in June 2025, and Plus500CA currently states that it is registered in every Canadian jurisdiction except Quebec.
If your priority is MT4, MT5, cTrader, Expert Advisors or a different execution workflow, use the wider GradTraders broker research alongside this route. A strong local option does not automatically make it the best platform fit for every trader.
Plus500CA
Why it leads here: Plus500CA keeps the trading experience centred on its own user-friendly web and mobile platform, which can suit traders who want a simple, consistent setup without relying on third-party software.
The regulatory support comes second: its current Canadian terms state that Plus500CA is an investment dealer registered across Canada except Quebec, and a member of CIRO and CIPF.
Province limits matter: Quebec is excluded from the current Plus500CA registration statement, while in Alberta services are limited to accredited investors.
Need MT4, MT5, cTrader or EA support?
If you depend on third-party platforms, automation or a particular execution model, compare the wider broker market before deciding.
The 24-broker table and costs/execution research let you compare platform support, pricing, market coverage and regulatory entities side by side.
Plus500CA CFD risk: CFDs are leveraged financial derivatives that carry a high risk of loss to your capital and are not suitable for all investors. Understand the risks before trading and consider independent advice where necessary.
Four prop-firm routes worth comparing from Canada
Prop firms are a separate route from a broker account, with their own fees, simulated accounts, drawdown rules and payout conditions.
At our 28 August 2026 review, Canada remained available across FTMO, The5ers, Funded Trading Plus and E8 Markets. Recheck current eligibility before paying an evaluation fee.
FTMO
Why it leads: FTMO is the benchmark for a structured simulated evaluation, clear trading objectives and an established process to compare against newer firms. Canada is not on its current published restriction list.
The5ers
Why it deserves a place: The5ers suits traders who prefer patient progression and scaling over rushing through an evaluation. Canada is not listed among its current forbidden territories.
GradTraders code: UR06YMJ
Funded Trading Plus
Why it stands out: Funded Trading Plus is the flexibility option, with different simulated evaluation structures to compare. Canada is not on the current prohibited-country list updated 26 August 2026.
GradTraders code: GRADTRADERS10
E8 Markets
Why it belongs in the comparison: E8 Markets is the modern challenger, useful if platform choice and newer simulated programme structures matter to you. Canada is not on its current published restricted-country list.
Useful trading software for Canadian traders
TradingView covers charting, ForexVPS.net provides always-on infrastructure, and TraderSync handles post-trade review.
TradingView
Why it leads: TradingView keeps Canadian and global markets in one charting workflow. Its current broker-data support includes Questrade access to TSX and TSXV data, alongside major US exchanges.
ForexVPS.net
Why it earns the infrastructure slot: ForexVPS.net can keep trading software running when your own computer is off. It currently lists Toronto among its data-centre locations; choose the location with the lowest measured latency to your broker server.
TraderSync
Why it matters: TraderSync keeps entries, exits, screenshots, mistakes and recurring patterns in one journal, helping you judge your process over a meaningful sample instead of one memorable trade.
Use the site without opening an account or buying anything
Both tools are free to use before you choose a broker or prop firm.
Prop Firm Offer Finder · 140,000+ combinations
Filter the current prop-firm database across more than 140,000 possible combinations instead of treating one evaluation company as the default answer.
Compound Interest Calculator · no sign-up
Model starting capital, regular contributions, time and an assumed return directly in the browser. The result is a mathematical scenario, not a forecast, and no email or account is required.
Verify the exact Canadian firm, province and registration
Canada does not have one securities regulator for every decision. Provincial and territorial regulators work together through the Canadian Securities Administrators, while CIRO oversees investment dealers, mutual fund dealers and trading activity on Canadian debt and equity marketplaces.
Before sending money, identify the exact legal entity in the account documents, check whether the firm is regulated through CIRO where relevant, then use the CSA National Registration Search to confirm the registration that applies to your province or territory.
1. Check the dealer
Use CIRO’s regulated-dealer directory to confirm the exact firm rather than relying on a brand name or a logo on a website.
2. Search the registration
Use the CSA National Registration Search to check the firm or individual and the province or territory in which the registration applies.
3. Check the individual
If an adviser or representative is involved, CIRO AdvisorReport can show approval categories, provinces, terms or conditions and certain disciplinary disclosures.
CIPF is not trading-loss insurance: CIPF protection is concerned with eligible client property missing after a member firm’s insolvency. It does not protect you from a fall in the value of an investment or trading losses.
Compare the account before you compare the marketing
Use the wider GradTraders research bank to compare regulation, platforms, market coverage and costs around the way you actually trade.
Important note for Canadian readers
GradTraders is a UK-based education and research site. This Canada gateway is general information and does not take your personal objectives, financial situation or needs into account.
Canadian regulation, product access and account eligibility can vary by legal entity, province and territory. Check the exact provider documents, CIRO information, CSA registration record and the relevant provincial or territorial regulator before opening or funding an account.
CFDs, forex, futures and other leveraged products can cause substantial losses. Prop-firm evaluations can also result in lost fees, and simulated account sizes are not cash owned by the trader. GradTraders provides education and research, not personal financial, investment, tax or legal advice.
