Take Profit Trader Review 2026: Is It Worth It For Futures Traders?
Take Profit Trader is a futures-only prop firm built around a one-step Test, simulated PRO accounts with day-one payout access and a route towards live-market PRO+ trading. This research-led review examines its current targets, drawdown, consistency rule, payout buffer, profit splits, news restrictions, account limits, platforms and live-account progression—and explains where it fits beside Topstep, Apex Trader Funding and MyFundedFutures.

GradTraders does not currently have a Take Profit Trader affiliate relationship, partner route or exclusive discount code. The 8.3/10 rating is an independent editorial judgement based on current official programme documentation and comparison with the wider GradTraders futures prop-firm research bank. No temporary Take Profit Trader promotion has been included in the rating.
Commercial disclosure: GradTraders does have commercial relationships with FTMO and The5ers. These are primarily forex and CFD-style prop-firm routes rather than direct futures substitutes. If you use one of the tracked routes, GradTraders may earn commission at no additional cost. Compare the best active FTMO offer available through GradTraders or The5ers using code UR06YMJ for 10% off eligible purchases. These relationships do not alter the Take Profit Trader findings or rating.
Compare first: Take Profit Trader has one of the clearest payout propositions in futures prop trading, but the Test, PRO and PRO+ stages do not use identical drawdown or withdrawal rules. Compare it with Topstep, Apex Trader Funding and MyFundedFutures in the GradTraders Prop Firm Comparison Table, then verify the live Take Profit Trader rules for the account size and platform shown at checkout.
Quick Verdict: Take Profit Trader Has A Strong Payout Model, But The Buffer Matters
Take Profit Trader is worth researching for experienced futures traders who value a one-step evaluation, no daily loss limit in the Test and access to withdrawals from day one of a qualifying PRO account. Its strongest feature is not the nominal account size; it is the absence of conventional payout windows once the trader has built the required buffer.
The main caution is that “day-one payouts” does not mean every dollar of early profit can be withdrawn at the normal 80% split. A PRO trader must first understand the buffer zone, which is equal to the account’s maximum drawdown. Withdrawing from inside that buffer can terminate the account and produce a different split. PRO accounts also replace the Test’s end-of-day trailing drawdown with a more demanding intraday trailing calculation.
My research indicates that Take Profit Trader offers a more coherent progression than many futures firms: Test accounts are simulated, PRO accounts remain simulated but can generate real payouts, and selected traders may be moved to live-market PRO+ accounts. That progression is attractive, although live promotion is discretionary and the complete rulebook still matters more than the marketing headline.
The 8.3/10 rating reflects a serious futures specialist with excellent payout flexibility, transparent core account tables and a genuine live-market route. It stops below the very highest score because GradTraders has no direct account-testing evidence, the PRO drawdown is less forgiving than the Test drawdown, and withdrawal decisions can materially affect account survival.
8.3/10 — a strong payout-focused futures alternative with a clear three-stage journey.
Disciplined futures traders who understand trailing drawdown and value frequent withdrawals.
The $50K account is the clearest reference point, but size should follow strategy risk.
The PRO buffer and intraday drawdown can make early profit more fragile than it appears.
Take Profit Trader At A Glance
| Feature | Take Profit Trader | GradTraders View |
|---|---|---|
| Core route | One-step simulated Test followed by simulated PRO and possible live-market PRO+ progression. | A clearer journey than firms offering several overlapping evaluation models. |
| Account sizes | $25K, $50K, $75K, $100K and $150K. | The nominal size is less important than the drawdown and contract allowance. |
| Minimum Test days | Five trading days. | Fast enough for active traders without making the Test an instant pass. |
| Test drawdown | End-of-day trailing drawdown that stops at the starting balance. | More manageable than intraday trailing drawdown because open profit does not lift the floor during the session. |
| PRO drawdown | Intraday trailing drawdown based on peak balance, including unrealised gains. | The most important rule change after passing and a genuine risk to open-profit strategies. |
| PRO payout split | 80% above the buffer; special terms apply when withdrawing from inside the buffer. | Flexible once the buffer is built, but the buffer cannot be treated as ordinary withdrawable profit. |
| PRO+ split | 90% in live-market PRO+, with no standard buffer requirement. | Attractive, but promotion is based on Take Profit Trader’s review rather than an automatic target alone. |
| Payout timing | Day one and daily when eligible; no standard payout window or maximum withdrawal above the buffer. | One of the strongest published payout propositions in the futures prop-firm market. |
| Consistency | 50% consistency rule in the Test; no consistency rule in standard PRO. | The Test rule delays passing rather than automatically failing the account. |
| Platforms | Fourteen listed platform options across CQG and Rithmic routes, including NinjaTrader, TradingView, Tradovate, R|Trader, Quantower and MotiveWave. | Strong platform breadth, but data feed and platform choice should be checked before purchase. |
| GradTraders relationship | No current affiliate route or exclusive GradTraders code. | The rating is independent and does not include temporary promotions. |
| GradTraders Rating | 8.3/10 | Best Payout-Focused Futures Alternative |

How The Take Profit Trader Journey Works
The three stages use different environments and risk calculations. A trader should understand the complete path before buying the Test rather than assuming that passing creates a conventional live brokerage account.
Test Account
A simulated one-step evaluation with an account-specific profit target, five minimum trading days, maximum position size, 50% consistency rule, end-of-day trailing drawdown and no daily loss limit.
GradTraders view: the cleanest stage conceptually, but traders still need enough balance between daily progress and consistency.
PRO Account
A simulated funded-stage account with real payout eligibility, 80% profit split above the buffer, intraday trailing drawdown, no standard consistency rule and restricted trading around specified news events.
GradTraders view: the payout flexibility is excellent, but the intraday drawdown is materially harder than the Test rule.
PRO+ Account
A live-market account offered after performance review, currently using a 90% profit split, end-of-day drawdown and no standard buffer requirement. Trading activity is routed through the firm’s live broker setup.
GradTraders view: a credible destination, but promotion is discretionary and can include account-specific development controls.
Take Profit Trader Account Size Comparison
| Account Size | Maximum Position | Profit Target | Maximum Trailing Drawdown | GradTraders View |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| $25K | 3 contracts / 30 micros | $1,500 | $1,500 | Smallest cost exposure, but the target equals the complete drawdown allowance. |
| $50K | 6 contracts / 60 micros | $3,000 | $2,000 | The clearest all-round reference account, provided the strategy can survive a $2,000 trailing limit. |
| $75K | 9 contracts / 90 micros | $4,500 | $2,500 | More contract capacity, but the target grows faster than the drawdown allowance. |
| $100K | 12 contracts / 120 micros | $6,000 | $3,000 | A larger headline balance does not create a proportionately larger risk budget. |
| $150K | 15 contracts / 150 micros | $9,000 | $4,500 | Highest capacity, but the $9,000 target should not encourage maximum-size trading. |
These are the standard published account parameters at the time of review. Monthly pricing, reset costs, activation fees and promotions can change independently of the trading rules, so the live checkout remains controlling.
Take Profit Trader Rating Breakdown
The category scores are editorial judgements rather than guarantees. The overall 8.3/10 is not a simple average: it weighs payout access, drawdown usability, rule transparency, live progression, platform choice, account economics, direct-use evidence and trader suitability. See How GradTraders Reviews Brokers, Prop Firms & Trading Software for the wider methodology.
| Category | Rating | GradTraders View |
|---|---|---|
| Payout Access | 9.4/10 | Day-one and daily eligibility above the buffer is one of the clearest published policies in the sector. |
| Rule Transparency | 8.8/10 | Core Test, PRO, payout and account-size rules are documented in useful detail. |
| Test Drawdown Usability | 8.6/10 | End-of-day trailing drawdown is easier to model than an intraday calculation. |
| PRO Drawdown Usability | 7.3/10 | Unrealised peak profit can move the floor intraday and reduce the remaining cushion. |
| Live-Market Progression | 8.9/10 | A real PRO+ pathway is a strength, although selection is not automatic. |
| Platform Choice | 9/10 | Fourteen listed platform routes give futures traders meaningful workflow choice. |
| Account Simplicity | 8.3/10 | One evaluation model is easier to understand than a four-plan menu, but stage-specific rules remain complex. |
| Direct-Use Evidence | 7.2/10 | This is a research-led assessment rather than a personal Take Profit Trader account test. |
| Beginner Suitability | 6.9/10 | No daily loss limit and intraday PRO drawdown can expose weak risk control quickly. |
| GradTraders Rating | 8.3/10 | Strong payout model with a demanding funded-stage risk rule |
What Is Take Profit Trader?
Take Profit Trader is a US-based futures prop-firm business operated by TakeProfitTrader LLC. It sells access to simulated trading Tests, provides qualifying traders with simulated PRO accounts that can generate real monetary payouts, and may invite selected performers into live-market PRO+ accounts.
The distinction between the three stages matters. A Test balance is not personal capital. A PRO account also remains simulated even though approved withdrawals are paid in real money. PRO+ is the live-market stage, where orders are routed through the firm’s broker arrangement and the trader is operating Take Profit Trader’s capital rather than a virtual account balance.
Take Profit Trader is not a retail broker and does not provide a personal brokerage account containing the headline $25K to $150K balance. The service is a rules-based performance programme with contractual payout rights subject to compliance, account status and the current terms.
How I Assessed Take Profit Trader Without A Personal Account
I have not personally traded a Take Profit Trader Test, PRO or PRO+ account. This review is based on the current official Test rules, PRO account rules, payout and buffer documentation, account tables, PRO+ upgrade guidance, platform information, terms and the firm’s public explanations of its simulated and live-market stages.
The advantage of this method is consistency. I can compare the published drawdown, payout, consistency, account-limit and progression rules directly with Topstep, Apex Trader Funding, MyFundedFutures and other futures providers without treating social-media claims as evidence.
The limitation is that documentation cannot reproduce platform stability, order handling, support quality, compliance conversations, account reviews or the practical experience of receiving a payout. That limitation is reflected in the Direct-Use Evidence score and prevents an otherwise strong published proposition from receiving a top-tier rating.
The Drawdown Rules Change After You Pass
End-Of-Day Trailing
The Test minimum balance moves from the highest end-of-day balance and stops trailing when it reaches the original starting balance. Open intraday profit does not lift the floor by itself.
Intraday Trailing
The PRO minimum balance follows peak balance in real time, including unrealised gains. A profitable open trade that later reverses can therefore leave less remaining room than the closed balance suggests.
End-Of-Day Drawdown
Standard live-market PRO+ accounts use end-of-day drawdown. Some traders can instead be placed in PRO+ Development with reduced sizing and a soft daily loss control.
The difference is not cosmetic. A trader can use a strategy successfully in the Test and still struggle in PRO if that strategy regularly builds large unrealised gains before closing only part of them. The intraday floor may rise with the high-water mark even when the final realised profit is smaller.
This is why the published payout policy and the drawdown calculation must be read together. Fast withdrawals do not compensate for a risk model the trader has not tested.
Read the deeper explanation before purchasing: Prop Firm Drawdown Explained 2026.
Day-One Payouts, The Buffer And Profit Splits
Take Profit Trader’s headline advantage is that a qualifying PRO trader does not need to wait for a fixed payout window or complete a minimum number of profitable days before making a request. Profits above the buffer can be withdrawn at an 80% split, and the firm publishes no standard maximum withdrawal amount for that route.
The buffer equals the account’s maximum drawdown. On a $50K PRO account with a $2,000 drawdown, the standard 80% withdrawal position begins once the balance reaches $52,000. Equivalent buffer balances are $26,500 on 25K, $77,500 on 75K, $103,000 on 100K and $154,500 on 150K.
Withdrawing from inside the buffer is possible only in a way that terminates the PRO account. Current official guidance states that the split on those buffer profits depends on how long the PRO account has been traded: 50% at 60 trading days or fewer and 80% after more than 60 trading days.
This creates a real decision. A trader may prefer to protect the account and withdraw only above the buffer, or deliberately close the account to access money inside it. Neither option is inherently wrong, but describing both simply as “day-one payouts” hides the economic difference.
The Route To Live-Market PRO+
Take Profit Trader’s live route is one of its stronger differentiators. The firm can review PRO performance and invite traders into PRO+, where trading is routed to the live market, the standard profit split rises to 90% and the normal buffer requirement is removed.
There is no single automatic threshold that guarantees promotion. Current guidance says Take Profit Trader reviews consistency, risk management, execution patterns and overall trading discipline holistically, with the final decision remaining solely at the firm’s discretion.
The current upgrade guidance states that the PRO account is placed on hold, $5,000 of PRO profit is frozen while PRO+ remains active, and the live account begins from a zero cash balance with an end-of-day drawdown corresponding to the original account size. If the live account is lost, remaining live profit and the trader’s share of the frozen amount are handled under the applicable terms.
Some traders may be assigned to PRO+ Development rather than the standard structure. Development accounts can use reduced contract limits, a soft daily loss limit and a smaller end-of-day drawdown. This is a risk-management route, not necessarily a punishment, but it means “PRO+” is not always one identical account model.
GradTraders view: The live-market pathway is credible and commercially meaningful. It should still be treated as a discretionary progression programme rather than a guaranteed reward for reaching one published number.
Consistency, News Trading, Copying And Counter Positions
The Test uses a 50% consistency rule. To qualify, the highest-profit day divided by total net profit must be below 50%. A reading of 50% or higher does not automatically fail the account; the trader must increase total net profit until the largest day falls below the threshold.
The published Test rule set does not apply the PRO/PRO+ prohibited-news blackout. PRO and PRO+ guidance requires traders to have no open positions or orders from one minute before until one minute after specified releases. The listed events include FOMC announcements, Non-Farm Payroll and CPI, with additional product-specific restrictions for crude-oil inventories and bond auctions.
Copy trading is permitted across eligible accounts owned by the same trader, including up to five PRO accounts, but the trader remains responsible for every copied order and every account-level breach. The firm also prohibits counter positions across accounts under the same beneficial control, including opposite exposure between closely related contracts such as ES and MES or NQ and MNQ.
This counter-position rule matters for households, multi-account traders and users combining mini and micro contracts. A trade does not need to be a deliberate hedge to create a violation if the accounts end up holding opposite positions in the same or related market.
Platforms, Instruments, Fees And Account Limits
Take Profit Trader supports futures listed on major US exchanges including CME, COMEX, NYMEX and CBOT. It does not provide stocks, spot forex, CFDs, cryptocurrencies or options through the programme.
The current platform page lists 14 options across CQG and Rithmic data-feed routes. Prominent choices include NinjaTrader, TradingView, Tradovate, R|Trader, Quantower and MotiveWave. Platform availability, data fees and connection requirements can vary, so traders should choose the execution workflow before purchasing rather than after passing.
Current standard pricing is published as a monthly Test subscription by account size, with a separate one-time PRO activation fee unless a promotion waives it. Take Profit Trader has also moved from one flat reset fee to account-size-based reset pricing. Because promotions are frequent and can attach waived activation fees to specific accounts, this review does not build the rating around a temporary code.
Traders can hold up to five active PRO and PRO+ accounts in total. Official terms also state that up to ten passed Tests may be activated during a rolling 30-day period, with accounts beyond the active limit queued for later activation. This is generous enough for copy-trading workflows but still requires careful account-level risk monitoring.
Country Access, Identity Checks And Legal Position
Take Profit Trader states that its service is accessible from most countries, but that wording is not a guarantee of eligibility for every resident, citizen, payment method or live-broker onboarding route. The terms require accurate registration information and allow identity, contact and account documentation to be requested.
International traders should verify whether PayPal or Wise is available to them and whether live-market onboarding can be completed from their jurisdiction. US traders can use Plaid or ACH routes under the current payout guidance. Tax treatment remains the trader’s responsibility and can differ materially by country.
UK traders should also distinguish a futures prop-firm contract from a UK-regulated spread-betting or CFD brokerage account. US readers may find the futures-only structure more accessible than offshore CFD routes, but Take Profit Trader itself is not a broker and the Test and PRO stages remain simulated.

- Counter-position rules can affect multi-account and correlated-contract workflows.
- PRO+ promotion is discretionary rather than guaranteed by one target.
- Some live traders can be placed in a more restrictive PRO+ Development structure.

Take Profit Trader vs Topstep, Apex And MyFundedFutures
Take Profit Trader’s clearest role is payout flexibility. Topstep has the strongest established futures-training identity, Apex is the high-volume promotional giant, and MyFundedFutures offers several distinct plan structures. Take Profit Trader is the one-step alternative for traders who value daily withdrawal access and a visible live-market destination.
| Firm | GradTraders Role | Evidence | Why Compare It? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Take Profit Trader | Best Payout-Focused Futures Alternative | Research-led | One-step Test, daily PRO withdrawals above the buffer and a live-market PRO+ route. |
| Topstep | Best Established Futures Benchmark | Research-led | Longer operating history, structured Trading Combine identity and strong futures-specific education. |
| Apex Trader Funding | Best High-Volume Promotional Alternative | Research-led | Large account ecosystem and frequent discounts, balanced by more payout and consistency conditions. |
| MyFundedFutures | Best Multi-Plan Futures Specialist | Research-led | Rapid, Builder, Flex and Pro routes create more structural choice than Take Profit Trader’s single Test model. |
| Personal Futures Broker Account | Best Direct-Control Route | Trader-funded | No prop-firm buffer, promotion or payout contract, but every market loss comes from the trader’s own capital. |
The correct choice depends on where the strategy needs flexibility. Take Profit Trader is strongest when payout access and a simple one-step path matter more than having several plan designs.
Who Is Take Profit Trader Best For?
Take Profit Trader May Suit
- Experienced futures traders with a tested strategy and fixed daily risk budget.
- Traders who prefer one evaluation stage rather than choosing among several plans.
- Traders who understand the difference between end-of-day and intraday trailing drawdown.
- Profitable PRO traders who value day-one and daily withdrawal access above the buffer.
- Multi-account traders using compliant same-owner copy trading.
- Traders who want a credible route towards live-market capital.
- Users who value NinjaTrader, TradingView, Tradovate or a wider futures platform menu.
Take Profit Trader May Not Suit
- Complete beginners who need a hard daily loss limit to control emotional trading.
- Strategies that rely on large unrealised intraday profit before accepting reversals.
- News traders unwilling to flatten positions around prohibited PRO events.
- Traders who expect the entire early buffer to be withdrawable at the standard split.
- Anyone assuming a passed Test automatically guarantees live-market promotion.
- Traders who frequently hedge across correlated mini and micro contracts.
- Anyone repeatedly buying discounted Tests without correcting the reason previous accounts failed.
Is Take Profit Trader Legit?
In the GradTraders view, Take Profit Trader is a legitimate and substantial futures prop-firm business with an identifiable US operating company, published terms, a detailed knowledge base, defined Test and PRO rules, real payout procedures and a documented live-market PRO+ route.
That conclusion does not mean Take Profit Trader is a regulated retail broker or that every trader will pass, receive a payout or reach PRO+. The firm’s own disclosure states that the Test is challenging and reports a 36.22% pass rate for Tests completed during 2025. Passing the evaluation is therefore possible, but it is not routine or guaranteed.
The strongest credibility feature is the transparent distinction between simulated Test and PRO accounts and live-market PRO+. The strongest caution is that the firm retains control over compliance, account status and live progression, while the trader must adapt to a more demanding intraday drawdown after passing.
Important distinction: A legitimate firm can still offer a difficult or unsuitable programme. Legitimacy does not remove subscription risk, guarantee a payout or turn a simulated PRO balance into personal brokerage capital.

Final Verdict: Is Take Profit Trader Worth It?
Take Profit Trader can be worth researching for an experienced futures trader who wants a one-step Test and values the ability to request PRO withdrawals without conventional payout windows.
The Test structure is relatively clear: hit the account-specific target, trade for at least five days, respect the end-of-day trailing drawdown, remain within the contract limit and satisfy the 50% consistency requirement. The more difficult decision begins after passing, when the account moves to intraday trailing drawdown and the buffer determines how normal 80% withdrawals work.
The 8.3/10 rating recognises the firm’s payout flexibility, platform range, transparent account tables and genuine live-market route. It stops below the highest category because the PRO rule is materially less forgiving than the Test rule, live promotion is discretionary, and this review does not include first-hand account evidence.
GradTraders verdict: Take Profit Trader is the Best Payout-Focused Futures Alternative in the current research bank—not an automatic first choice for every trader. Compare it with Topstep, Apex and MyFundedFutures, model the PRO buffer before buying, and choose the account from its drawdown rather than its headline balance.
Take Profit Trader Review FAQ
Is Take Profit Trader a broker?
No. Take Profit Trader is a futures prop-firm programme. Test and PRO accounts are simulated. Selected traders may later receive a live-market PRO+ account routed through the firm’s broker arrangement.
How do you pass a Take Profit Trader Test?
You must reach the profit target for the selected account, trade for at least five days, stay above the end-of-day trailing drawdown, remain within the maximum position size, avoid prohibited counter positions and satisfy the 50% consistency rule.
Does Take Profit Trader have a daily loss limit?
The standard Test does not use a daily loss limit, but it does use an overall end-of-day trailing drawdown. Standard PRO accounts use intraday trailing drawdown. Some PRO+ Development accounts can include a soft daily loss control.
What is the Take Profit Trader consistency rule?
During the Test, the highest-profit day divided by total net profit must be below 50% when the trader qualifies. A reading of 50% or higher does not automatically fail the account; the trader must increase total net profit until the percentage falls below 50%.
Can Take Profit Trader traders withdraw on day one?
A qualifying PRO trader can request a withdrawal from day one. The standard 80% split applies to profits above the required buffer. Withdrawing from inside the buffer can terminate the account and may use a different split.
What is the Take Profit Trader buffer?
The PRO buffer equals the account’s maximum drawdown. A 50K account therefore uses a $2,000 buffer and reaches the standard withdrawal position at a $52,000 balance. The buffer helps protect the account from reaching its trailing loss floor.
What is the difference between PRO and PRO+?
PRO is a simulated account with real payout eligibility, an 80% standard split and intraday trailing drawdown. PRO+ is a live-market account with a 90% split, end-of-day drawdown and no standard buffer requirement, although some traders can receive a Development structure.
Can Take Profit Trader users trade the news?
The published Test rule set does not include the PRO/PRO+ prohibited-news blackout. PRO and PRO+ accounts must be flat around specified major events such as FOMC announcements, Non-Farm Payroll and CPI, and product-specific restrictions can also apply.
How many Take Profit Trader funded accounts can one trader have?
A trader can hold up to five active PRO and PRO+ accounts in total. Passed Tests beyond that limit can be queued, subject to the current activation rules.
Does GradTraders have a Take Profit Trader discount code?
No. GradTraders does not currently have a Take Profit Trader affiliate relationship, exclusive partner route or discount code. Temporary Take Profit Trader promotions are not included in the editorial rating.
Is Take Profit Trader legitimate?
GradTraders considers Take Profit Trader a legitimate futures prop-firm business with published rules, payout procedures, identifiable company details and a live-market progression route. It is not a retail broker, and legitimacy does not guarantee passing, payouts or promotion to PRO+.
