GradTraders Broker Review

OANDA Review 2026: Is It A Good Broker For Forex, TradingView And UK Traders?

OANDA is a long-established forex-led broker with regulated UK and US routes, no minimum live-account deposit, UK spread betting, CFDs, TradingView, MT4, MT5 and a proprietary web/mobile platform. Its 8.4/10 GradTraders Rating reflects a credible low-friction forex and spread-betting proposition—balanced against regional account differences, no cTrader route and less complete active-trader depth than the highest-ranked brokers.

The GradTraders View

OANDA’s UK, US and international offerings should not be treated as interchangeable. GradTraders examines the different platform routes, sub-account rules and funding terms using OANDA, FTMO and regulatory sources, while distinguishing published procedures from actual account-level outcomes.

GradTraders Rating 8.4/10 Regulated Forex & Spread-Betting Route Strong UK and US forex relevance with TradingView, MT4 and MT5 access, but no cTrader and a platform-dependent sub-account structure.

Quick Verdict: OANDA Earns 8.4/10

OANDA is one of the more interesting forex-focused brokers for traders who want precise position sizing and a choice of how to trade. Its established US operation is a major part of that appeal: OANDA Corporation provides CFTC/NFA-regulated forex trading through OANDA Trade, TradingView and MT4. On the native OANDA platform, orders can start at just one unit of currency instead of a conventional 1,000-unit micro-lot. That can be particularly useful when developing a strategy, scaling into a position or managing a small risk budget.

The appeal extends beyond America, but the services differ. Canadian traders have a CIRO-regulated forex and CFD offering; OANDA also operates regulated CFD routes in Australia and Singapore. British traders have a separate FCA-regulated service with spread betting through eligible v20 accounts, while OANDA One/MT5 has its own CFD and platform options. I would judge each of those accounts on what it actually offers rather than treat the UK platform range as a description of OANDA worldwide.

Within the GradTraders broker bank, FOREX.com is OANDA’s most natural US forex comparison: it offers MT5 and a RAW-pricing choice, while OANDA stands out for one-unit native order sizing and its established TradingView/MT4 workflow. OANDA won’t suit somebody committed to cTrader, and its trading products should not be confused with directly owning shares or ETFs. For forex traders who value accurate position sizing and an appropriately regulated local account, I think it deserves its 8.4/10.

OANDA Against The Broker Bank: Which Trader Actually Benefits?

I’d put OANDA on different shortlists for different reasons. An American forex trader is considering a regulated spot-forex business with unusually small native order sizes. A Canadian trader can access a different forex-and-CFD offering. An active UK trader has spread-betting and OANDA One options that don’t exist in the US account. Those distinctions are more useful than treating OANDA’s 8.4/10 as one worldwide package.

US forex trading with tight control of position sizeOANDA Corporation is CFTC/NFA regulated. Its native platform permits forex orders from one unit, with TradingView, MT4 and API routes also available.FOREX.com is a genuine US-regulated rival. Its RAW account starts at 0.01 lot (1,000 units); the right comparison is precise order sizing versus the desired platform and total cost.
A US MT5 or commission-based EA workflowOANDA’s published US platform menu covers OANDA Trade, TradingView and MT4, rather than the separate UK/Australian MT5 offer. US Core pricing with commission requires a $10,000 account balance under its published terms.FOREX.com US offers MT5 and eligible RAW spread-plus-commission pricing. For a strategy already built for MT5, this is a meaningful platform difference, not a minor ratings gap.
High-volume US forex tradingOANDA’s Elite Trader scheme adds rebates and service benefits for qualifying volume, beginning at 10 million in traded notional volume.Compare the volume threshold, total commissions, spreads and FOREX.com’s VIP or RAW terms; a rebate is only useful if it improves the actual net trading cost.
Canadian forex and index/commodity CFDsOANDA’s Canadian service operates under CIRO rules, with forex and CFD markets, OANDA web/mobile, TradingView and MT4. Core-spread/commission pricing advertises a CAD$10,000 deposit condition. This is not the US account. Compare the Canadian contract, margin requirements and all-in forex costs with providers that actually serve Canadian clients.
Australian or Singaporean forex and CFD tradingOANDA operates an ASIC-regulated Australian route and a separate MAS-regulated Singapore route. Their published platforms include TradingView and MetaTrader, with MT5 offered on the applicable local service.Compare the locally offered OANDA products against eligible Pepperstone or IG entities, rather than importing UK spread-betting or US spot-forex conditions.
UK spread betting, TradingView or share CFDsUK v20 accounts support eligible spread betting and TradingView; OANDA One/MT5 opens a different CFD route including share and ETF CFDs, not spread betting. Live OANDA One TradingView access is documented; demo access is restricted.FOREX.com, IG and CMC Markets merit a comparison on the exact UK instrument and chart-execution route, not the brand name.
A working cTrader/cBot systemOANDA is centred on its own platforms, TradingView and eligible MetaTrader accounts. cTrader is not part of its researched offering. An eligible FxPro or Pepperstone account may be a more direct home for cTrader automation than rewriting a working system.
An occasional UK forex accountNo minimum UK deposit is useful initially, but OANDA’s UK documentation allows a monthly inactivity fee after a long period without trades. The existing GradTraders UK comparison lists up to £20 monthly for OANDA versus £12 at FOREX.com after the stated inactivity threshold. Verify the account-specific conditions rather than assuming no minimum deposit means no ongoing cost.

My closest US comparison is FOREX.com. OANDA has a clear advantage for somebody who wants forex orders sized in individual currency units on its native platform. FOREX.com answers a different need with MT5 and its commission-based RAW offering. Neither advantage tells us which account offers better fills or lower total trading costs on a particular day; those need comparable executable prices, commission and financing data.

Research basis: GradTraders 24-broker bank, platform comparison, cost and execution bank, regulatory routes, and OANDA versus FOREX.com. Primary regional documents: OANDA US account pricing, OANDA Canada, OANDA Singapore and OANDA One live TradingView details.

What Is OANDA?

OANDA is a forex-focused brokerage and financial-technology group founded in 1996, with established businesses in North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific. Its currency data, native trading technology and choice of forex platforms give it a different emphasis from CFD brokers built mainly around a long list of instruments.

For US customers, OANDA Corporation is a CFTC/NFA-regulated forex provider offering OANDA Trade, TradingView, MT4 and eligible API trading. Canadian clients use a separate CIRO-regulated forex/CFD service. Australia has an ASIC-regulated OANDA business and Singapore has a MAS-regulated service. UK clients use OANDA Europe Limited for eligible CFDs and spread betting, while European clients may be served through OANDA TMS in Poland. These are not interchangeable accounts.

That breadth matters in a very practical way. A US forex trader shouldn’t have to read through UK spread-betting rules to discover how OANDA works in America. Equally, a UK or Australian CFD trader shouldn’t expect OANDA Corporation’s US forex product list to describe their account.

Who Owns OANDA In 2026?

FTMO completed its acquisition of OANDA Global Corporation on 1 December 2025 after receiving the required regulatory approvals. That changed the group ownership, but it did not turn OANDA brokerage accounts into FTMO prop-trading accounts.

In March 2026, FTMO founders Otakar Šuffner and Marek Vašíček took joint leadership of OANDA as co-CEOs. OANDA states that FTMO and OANDA continue to operate as independent organisations, with country operations otherwise unchanged.

For this review, the practical point is that ownership and account regulation remain separate questions. UK trading services are still provided through OANDA Europe Limited, while US retail forex customers use OANDA Corporation.

Platforms And Sub-Account Structure: Choose The Right Login

I think OANDA’s biggest practical complication is also one of its most important distinctions. Seeing five platforms on a website does not mean that one trading account supports all five with identical markets. The v20 engine and OANDA One/MT5 handle products, netting and margin differently, so the sub-account needs to be selected around the strategy.

UK sub-accountPlatforms / workflowProducts / spread bettingDecisive detail
v20OANDA web/mobile, supported TradingView access and v20 API.Forex, indices, metals, commodities and bond CFDs; spread-betting sub-account available.OANDA’s native interface uses forex units, which can be as small as one unit. Default netting can be changed when creating eligible sub-accounts.
Linked v20 MT4MT4 plus the associated OANDA web/mobile interface and supported TradingView route.Similar core v20 CFD markets; eligible UK spread-betting sub-account.The v20 engine—not the MT4 front-end—is the final system of record for linked positions, margin and closeout.
OANDA One / MT5MT5 and OANDA mobile; OANDA’s current help guidance also supports TradingView for eligible live OANDA One accounts, but not their demo counterparts.Adds eligible share and ETF CFDs following activation; no spread betting; no bond CFDs.Hedging is enabled by default; share/ETF CFD activation needs declarations. Live TradingView access is described in current OANDA One guidance, despite an older general comparison showing otherwise.

OANDA One and TradingView: OANDA’s current account-activation guide expressly lists TradingView for eligible live OANDA One accounts, and its ETF-CFD guide identifies MT5, TradingView and OANDA mobile as supported routes after approval. OANDA One demo accounts cannot trade through TradingView. The older general comparison matrix still suggests otherwise, so the current product-level guidance is the more useful reference; confirm the connection and instrument permissions on the actual account. Spread betting remains unavailable on OANDA One.

For a spread-betting setup, the answer is more definite: OANDA’s UK terms and sub-account guide say MT5/OANDA One cannot place spread bets. That alone could determine the platform choice.

OANDA UK v20, linked v20 MT4 and OANDA One MT5 sub-account compatibility with spread betting, TradingView availability and eligible share or ETF CFD access.

Account Types And Regional Differences

United States: OANDA Corporation’s Standard account supports its native platform, TradingView, MT4 and API access. Both spread-only and Core spread-plus-commission models appear in its US account comparison, but Core pricing requires a US$10,000 balance under the current published condition. The Elite Trader programme begins at 10 million in qualifying traded volume and adds rebates and other service benefits. Native forex orders can be as small as one unit; MT4’s normal minimum is 0.01 lot. I would distinguish those workflows before calling OANDA a low-cost or small-account broker.

Canada: the CIRO-regulated offering includes forex and other CFDs, OANDA Trade, TradingView and MT4. OANDA Canada’s commission-based Core spread pricing has a separately advertised CAD$10,000 deposit requirement. That is a different programme from the US eligibility condition, even where the pricing names sound similar.

UK: OANDA Europe Limited supports v20 accounts, linked MT4 and OANDA One/MT5. Eligible UK spread betting is attached to compatible v20 routes, not OANDA One. The latest OANDA One live-account guide specifically supports TradingView connections while excluding OANDA One demo accounts from that integration. The older general UK account comparison has not fully caught up with this more specific help document. OANDA One also offers share and ETF CFDs following the required activation.

Other regions: the Australian ASIC and Singapore MAS businesses publish their own forex/CFD products and platform ranges, including local MetaTrader and TradingView access. OANDA’s European TMS and other country services must likewise be read on their own terms rather than assumed to follow the UK, US or Canadian examples.

Where eligible, professional classification may increase leverage but alter retail protections. This matters particularly in the UK, where professional clients can lose negative-balance protection. I would verify account permissions and margin rules before funding, rather than select an entity or classification for a leverage headline.

Trading Tools, Guaranteed Stops And Execution

The risk tools interest me more than another list of indicators. OANDA’s native v20 interface permits forex orders sized in individual units, while supported v20 and linked MT4 accounts also offer guaranteed stop-loss orders (GSLOs). Both features can change how a trader builds a position, particularly on a smaller account.

Consider two forex orders placed with a stop 50 pips away. On EUR/USD, a 1,000-unit micro-lot exposes roughly $5 to a 50-pip move; a 100-unit position exposes approximately $0.50, before spread, charges and conversion. OANDA’s native one-unit sizing permits still finer adjustment. The flexibility is useful for risk control, although tiny positions remain subject to the actual platform’s minimums and the fact that leverage amplifies risk.

The guaranteed-stop calculation is equally instructive. OANDA gives an example of one UK 100 index CFD priced at £1 per point. A normal stop 50 points below entry could fill 100 points lower after a gap, producing a £100 loss. An eligible GSLO would execute at the 50-point stop; with OANDA’s illustrated 2-point premium on triggering, the loss would instead be £52. This illustrates a specific hypothetical gap and contract—not a universal GSLO charge or assured performance on all markets. OANDA says GSLOs are available on selected v20/v20 MT4 instruments, and the premium applies only if triggered.

A reporting detail worth knowing: on OANDA’s linked v20 MT4 accounts, the MT4 History swap column shows zero, even when financing applies. OANDA’s HUB statements and downloadable MT4 history report contain aggregated financing instead. A trader auditing holding costs from the on-screen swap column alone could miss real charges. OANDA One/MT5 reports financing differently, so this is specific to linked v20 MT4 accounts.

There is a second distinction for chart-led trading: OANDA describes TradingView’s v20 margin-needed figure as approximate because TradingView uses bid/ask prices while the v20 engine uses mid-prices. MetaTrader’s order ticket does not display that margin-needed calculation. For actual margin, OANDA remains the system of record. I would compare financing, execution and account rules against FxPro or FOREX.com with those mechanics in mind.

Official references: forex unit sizing, GSLO eligibility and illustration, and v20 and MT4 execution records.

Forex, Indices, Shares, ETFs, Commodities, Metals And Bonds

Forex remains OANDA’s defining market. UK material lists more than 65 major and minor forex pairs for spread betting and more than 70 forex CFD pairs across supported platforms.

The v20 and linked MT4 routes cover forex, metals, indices, commodities and bonds. OANDA One and MT5 add share and ETF CFDs but omit bond CFDs and spread betting.

The product range is broad enough for most mainstream derivative traders, but it does not provide conventional ownership of stocks or ETFs. All positions are derivatives with spread, financing, margin and counterparty implications.

Product rule: a share CFD, ETF CFD, forex CFD and spread bet do not create ownership of the underlying asset. Confirm product type, sub-account, financing and tax treatment before trading.

Spreads, Financing, Inactivity And Account Costs

OANDA’s UK forex pricing is spread-led, with advertised minimums on selected instruments rather than a single fixed spread. Trading costs also depend on overnight financing, currency conversion and the exact product and account. That is the calculation for active users. For somebody who trades only occasionally, the less obvious cost is what happens when the account sits unused.

UK brokerMonthly inactivity feeSix chargeable monthsTwelve chargeable monthsImportant condition
OANDAUp to £20Up to £120Up to £240Begins after 12 months without trading; no charge while an open position remains; debited across sub-accounts without making a balance negative.
FOREX.com£12Up to £72Up to £144After 12 months without trading; cannot exceed available account funds; open positions affect inactivity status.
Pepperstone£0£0£0No advertised inactivity fee; very small dormant accounts may be archived and reactivated.

How I read this: a £20 fee may sound small, but on a £500 dormant trading balance six chargeable months could consume £120—24% of that balance—assuming enough funds remain. A broker with no minimum opening deposit is not necessarily the cheapest place to leave an unused account. The examples begin after the initial twelve months of inactivity and assume charges remain unchanged; they are not charges for the first year after opening.

The comparison uses OANDA UK charges, FOREX.com UK fees and Pepperstone’s UK schedule. Banks may impose transfer charges even when OANDA itself does not charge a UK withdrawal fee. For active traders, compare the full trading spread, financing, slippage and applicable account structure instead of inferring trade costs from the inactivity table.

UK Spread Betting, CFDs And Leverage

Eligible UK clients can create a spread-betting sub-account across supported forex, indices, commodities, metals and other markets. Current OANDA platform information shows the exact spread-betting range varies by platform and sub-account.

Spread betting is available through compatible v20 and linked MT4 routes. OANDA states that MT5 cannot be used for spread betting. This is the most important platform caveat in the UK proposition.

Retail leverage follows FCA limits. Current OANDA material states up to 30:1 on major forex, 20:1 on non-major forex and gold, and 5:1 on individual shares and bonds. Professional leverage can be higher, but retail protections are reduced.

Spread-betting profits are generally exempt from UK Capital Gains Tax and stamp duty under current rules, but tax treatment depends on the individual and can change.

UK verdict: OANDA provides a credible low-friction spread-betting route, but users must select a compatible sub-account rather than assuming MT5 supports the product.

Funding, Withdrawals And Account Reliability

UK clients can fund through supported cards and bank-transfer methods, including Faster Payments, Bacs, CHAPS and SEPA. Funds can be moved between OANDA sub-accounts through the account-management area.

OANDA applies return-to-source and withdrawal-hierarchy rules. Money may need to be returned to cards before the remaining balance can be sent by bank transfer.

OANDA states that it does not charge UK withdrawal fees, although banks and intermediaries can charge. Processing times depend on the method, verification and banking network.

The useful test is the money’s return route. If the account was funded by card, OANDA’s return-to-source hierarchy can require card repayments before the remaining amount goes by bank transfer. I would check the destination and withdrawal documentation before transferring substantial funds, particularly if money will move between sub-accounts with different base currencies.

Funding rule: use payment methods in the account holder’s name, complete verification early and test the withdrawal route with a manageable amount before keeping a large trading balance.

OANDA Regulation: US, Canada, UK And International Accounts

OANDA Europe Limited is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority under reference number 542574. UK retail clients receive negative-balance protection and client-money safeguards under the applicable rules.

Professional clients lose negative-balance protection and may lose access to other retail safeguards. OANDA also notes that professional clients can opt out of selected client-money protections.

OANDA Corporation serves US forex clients under CFTC and NFA oversight. US retail forex accounts are not SIPC-protected securities accounts and follow US rules such as restrictions on hedging and FIFO treatment.

US regulatory-history note: in May 2025, the NFA accepted an OANDA Corporation settlement. OANDA did not admit or deny the complaint allegations, while the NFA decision included findings of violations and ordered a $600,000 fine plus a good-faith effort to pay up to $428,592.26 in restitution to customers affected by a pricing-display issue.

This disciplinary history relates to OANDA Corporation in the United States and should not be presented as an FCA finding against OANDA Europe Limited.

Canada is a separate CIRO-regulated forex/CFD route, OANDA Australia Pty Ltd is regulated by ASIC (AFSL 412981), and Singapore’s local OANDA service is MAS-regulated. Other European and Japanese OANDA services have different local authorisations. Those regulators do not extend identical products or legal protections across the entire group.

Regulatory distinction: OANDA has meaningful US, Canadian, UK and Asia-Pacific services, but a US forex account does not carry the same instruments, leverage or safeguards as a Canadian or British CFD account.

Further Reading And Broker Comparisons

My View On OANDA

OANDA’s US operation is one of the main reasons I would put it on a serious forex shortlist. The company offers something many internationally prominent CFD brokers cannot offer a US resident: an established, domestically regulated route into retail forex. That alone makes its US proposition worth assessing separately from the British spread-betting and CFD market.

What particularly interests me is how finely the native OANDA platform lets a trader size a position. One-unit forex orders have a practical value for anyone adjusting risk carefully, scaling into a trade or testing a strategy with a small amount of exposure. The distinction is easy to lose in a broker comparison dominated by spreads and platform logos. For context, HFM’s eligible Cent minimum represents 10 units and a conventional MetaTrader micro-lot 1,000; these are contract comparisons, not claims that all three accounts serve the same countries.

For an American trader working with TradingView or MT4, I would compare OANDA directly with FOREX.com. I wouldn’t choose simply by the 8.4 versus 8.5 bank rating. If I needed MT5 and RAW pricing, FOREX.com makes the stronger platform case. If I needed OANDA’s native order sizing or preferred its API and proprietary trade management, that could matter much more than a tenth of a rating point. I’d then examine real spreads, commission and financing on the currency pairs and sessions I actually trade.

Internationally, OANDA is not one account wearing different national labels. Canada offers its own CIRO-regulated forex-and-CFD service, with distinct deposit conditions for commission pricing. Australia and Singapore offer separately regulated CFD platforms. In Britain, spread betting and OANDA One make the product decision different again. I like that OANDA has meaningful local operations, but the regional account is what determines whether its particular strengths are useful to the reader.

Final Verdict: OANDA Earns 8.4/10

OANDA earns 8.4/10 as an established forex specialist with a particularly relevant US retail forex offering, flexible native order sizes and a choice of OANDA Trade, TradingView and MetaTrader routes. Its one-unit forex orders are a genuine point of difference for traders who want precision without committing to a conventional micro-lot.

For US traders I’d compare it directly with FOREX.com: OANDA for its native sizing and established forex workflow; FOREX.com for eligible MT5 and RAW pricing. In Canada, Australia and Singapore the question changes to locally offered forex/CFD products and regulator protections. UK traders have the additional choices of eligible spread betting and OANDA One share/ETF CFDs, with important differences between v20 and MT5 accounts.

I would look elsewhere for cTrader automation or if my main objective were owning shares and ETFs rather than trading derivatives. I’d also compare the real cost of the particular forex account—including commission, spreads, financing and inactivity charges where they apply—rather than treat zero minimum deposits or a global platform list as decisive. For a forex trader whose local OANDA account fits the method, the broker remains an attractive and distinctive candidate within our research bank.
