XTB Review 2026: Is It A Good Broker For Traders And Investors?
XTB sits between a traditional CFD broker, an investment platform and an app-led portfolio service. Its 8.5/10 GradTraders Rating reflects a strong FCA-regulated UK proposition built around xStation, real stocks and ETFs, CFDs, Investment Plans and ISA products—balanced against limited third-party platform choice and no currently advertised UK spread-betting account.

Quick Verdict: XTB Earns 8.5/10
XTB is one of the stronger mainstream choices for UK users who want conventional investing and CFD trading inside one modern proprietary platform. xStation combines real stocks and ETFs, CFDs, market news, education, Investment Plans and portfolio tools without forcing the user to move between unrelated systems.
The UK proposition has become more useful through stocks-and-shares and cash ISA products, commission-free stock and ETF investing within monthly limits, no minimum deposit and a broad instrument range.
The main limitation is active-trader flexibility. XTB is not a native cTrader, MetaTrader or TradingView-execution broker, and it does not currently advertise UK spread betting among its principal account products.
Strong for users who want real stocks, ETFs, ISA products and CFDs in one account ecosystem.
A coherent web and mobile platform covering trading, investing, research and portfolio management.
No native cTrader, MetaTrader or TradingView execution route for traders who prioritise portability.
XTB ranks as a strong trading-and-investing platform rather than a raw-spread active-trader specialist.
XTB At A Glance
| Review Area | XTB UK Position | GradTraders View |
|---|---|---|
| Overall GradTraders Rating | 8.5/10 | A strong mainstream broker for users combining investing and CFD trading. |
| UK regulation | XTB Limited, FCA reference 522157. | Credible FCA-regulated UK route with segregated client-money arrangements. |
| Core platform | xStation web platform and XTB mobile app. | Modern and integrated, but proprietary-platform dependence reduces portability. |
| Products | Real stocks and ETFs, CFDs, Investment Plans, stocks-and-shares ISA and cash ISA. | Broader than a CFD-only broker and useful for wealth-building alongside trading. |
| Instrument range | Approximately 11,600 instruments across stocks, ETFs and CFDs. | Strong mainstream breadth, although the count combines different product structures. |
| Minimum deposit | £0. | Low account-opening friction; sufficient capital is still needed for sensible risk management. |
| Third-party platforms | No current native cTrader, MT4, MT5 or TradingView execution route. | The clearest weakness for specialist active traders. |
| Direct GradTraders use | Research-led assessment. | No equivalent live account, execution and withdrawal evidence has been claimed. |
Why XTB Scores 8.5/10
The 8.5/10 score is the authoritative XTB rating in the GradTraders broker review bank. The verdict considers regulation, platform quality, costs, market access, investing products, execution suitability, funding and practical account use. It is an editorially weighted rating rather than a simple mathematical average.
| Scoring Area | Assessment | Why It Matters |
|---|---|---|
| Safety & Regulation | Very strong | FCA regulation, segregated client funds, Financial Ombudsman access and potential FSCS eligibility create a credible UK route. |
| Platforms & Trading Tools | Strong proprietary platform | xStation is modern and coherent, but traders who need portable third-party platforms have fewer options. |
| Investing & Market Coverage | Strong | Stocks, ETFs, CFDs, Investment Plans and ISA products make XTB more useful than a pure leveraged-trading provider. |
| Pricing & Account Costs | Competitive but conditional | Stock and ETF commissions can be zero within limits, while currency conversion, custody thresholds, CFD spreads and funding still matter. |
| Execution & Active-Trader Fit | Good mainstream fit | Suitable for discretionary platform users, but not the leading raw-spread, cTrader or automated-trading route. |
| Support, Funding & Reliability | Good on published terms | No minimum deposit and published free funding/withdrawal terms reduce friction, but the review remains research-led. |
| Overall GradTraders Rating | 8.5/10 | A strong mainstream trading-and-investing platform with specialist active-trader limitations rather than fundamental weaknesses. |
Comparison context: XTB does not need to beat IC Markets, Pepperstone or FP Markets at raw active-trader execution to justify 8.5/10. Its higher-value use case is different: combining a strong proprietary platform with real investments, passive-investing tools, ISA products and CFDs.
Where XTB Fits In The GradTraders Broker Bank
XTB sits below the strongest professional and specialist active-trader brokers, but above many simplified CFD apps and narrower social-trading platforms. Its position is based on breadth and usability rather than one class-leading execution feature.
The closest mainstream comparison is Capital.com. XTB ranks higher because its stocks, ETFs, Investment Plans and ISA ecosystem give the account more long-term usefulness. Capital.com remains stronger for UK spread betting and third-party platform access.
XTB also competes indirectly with eToro, Plus500, IG and CMC Markets. The correct choice depends on whether the user prioritises conventional investments, social features, spread betting, professional platform depth or raw active-trader execution.
What Is XTB?
XTB is a publicly listed international brokerage group with more than 20 years of operating history. UK clients use XTB Limited, the FCA-regulated entity responsible for the UK trading and investment proposition.
The account is built around xStation rather than a collection of third-party terminals. Users can access real stocks and ETFs, leveraged CFDs, market analysis, education, Investment Plans and ISA products through the wider XTB ecosystem.
This makes XTB difficult to classify as only a CFD broker. It is better understood as a mainstream trading, investing and savings platform that also offers leveraged products.
My View As A Trader
I have not used XTB as my primary live trading or investment account, so this review is research-led. I am not claiming first-hand execution, support or withdrawal evidence equivalent to the experience disclosed in the IC Markets, CMC Markets, IG and Plus500 reviews.
From a product perspective, XTB makes most sense to me as a trader-investor account. The platform can support conventional stocks and ETFs, passive Investment Plans and occasional CFD use without turning leveraged trading into the only reason to hold the account.
For my own short-term index-trading workflow, I would still prefer a broker with cTrader, TradingView execution or sharper active-trader account structures. That is a question of fit, not a claim that XTB is weak.
Trading Platform: xStation Web And Mobile
xStation is the centre of the XTB account. The web platform and mobile app combine charting, market news, education, portfolio information, investing and CFD order entry inside one interface.
XTB currently advertises access to approximately 11,600 instruments through the platform. It also provides market news, educational material, notifications and trading statistics.
The integrated design is valuable for users who dislike fragmented broker ecosystems. The trade-off is platform lock-in: strategies, indicators and automated systems built around MetaTrader, cTrader or TradingView execution cannot simply be transferred into XTB.
One Coherent Platform
Trading, investing, news, education and account management sit inside the same wider xStation environment.
Useful Built-In Tools
Market news, calendars, sentiment and educational material support mainstream discretionary users.
No Major Third-Party Stack
cTrader, MetaTrader and TradingView-execution users should compare other brokers first.
Stocks, ETFs, Investment Plans And ISA Products
XTB’s investment proposition has moved beyond a straightforward shares-and-ETFs account. The current UK platform combines conventional stocks and ETFs with Investment Plans 2.0 and two flexible ISA routes.
Investment Plans 2.0: XTB now supports ready-made plans, sector plans and do-it-yourself portfolios. DIY plans can combine stocks and ETFs, current product pages advertise access to 3,400+ stocks and 1,800+ ETFs, and the minimum plan investment remains £15. Auto-invest can be used for recurring contributions.
Flexible ISAs: XTB currently offers both a Flexible Stocks & Shares ISA and a Flexible Cash ISA. The Stocks & Shares ISA can be used for eligible investments; the Cash ISA is a savings product rather than a trading account. ISA eligibility, rates, allowances and tax treatment can change and depend on individual circumstances.
Investment Plans are not currently available inside ISA accounts, so users should not assume every XTB investment feature can be combined in the same wrapper.
Product rule: always distinguish a real stock or ETF, an Investment Plan holding, cash held in an ISA and a CFD. Ownership, fees, tax treatment and risk are different.
CFD Trading, Markets And Account Costs
XTB provides CFDs across forex, indices, commodities, stocks and ETFs where available. The UK account uses retail leverage limits and spread-led pricing, with overnight financing and other market-specific charges applying to leveraged positions.
For real stocks and ETFs, XTB advertises 0% commission up to the equivalent of €100,000 monthly turnover. Above that threshold, a 0.2% commission applies with a stated minimum of £10. A 0.5% currency-conversion charge can apply when the asset currency differs from the account currency.
XTB also publishes no account-opening fee, no minimum deposit and free deposits and withdrawals. Custody is free up to a published threshold, after which a percentage charge and minimum fee can apply.
Cost verdict: XTB can be competitive for mainstream investors and occasional CFD traders, but it is not automatically the cheapest broker. Compare spread, funding, conversion, commission, custody conditions and the exact product route.
Safety, Regulation And Client Protection
XTB Limited is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority under firm reference number 522157. XTB states that UK client money is held in segregated accounts in line with FCA client-money rules.
Eligible clients can use the Financial Ombudsman Service and may qualify for Financial Services Compensation Scheme protection if the firm is unable to meet its obligations. Current XTB material states potential FSCS protection of up to £120,000, subject to eligibility and scheme rules.
XTB Group is publicly listed and has operated for more than 20 years. These are meaningful trust indicators, but they do not protect users from investment losses, CFD leverage or poor risk management.
Safety verdict: XTB provides a credible FCA-regulated UK route. The user must still confirm the exact entity and understand whether the account contains investments, cash products or leveraged derivatives.
Funding, Withdrawals And Account Reliability
XTB publishes a £0 minimum deposit, free account opening, free deposits and free withdrawals. Some payment providers can still impose their own charges.
The platform allows users to manage deposits and withdrawals inside the wider account environment. Investment Plans can also be funded, adjusted or closed without a fixed minimum holding period.
GradTraders has not independently tested XTB withdrawals or long-term support quality through a live account. The reliability assessment therefore reflects official terms, regulatory structure, public-company status and research rather than first-hand evidence.

Final Verdict: XTB Earns 8.5/10
XTB is a strong mainstream broker for traders who also want to invest. xStation, real stocks and ETFs, Investment Plans, ISA products, CFDs and no minimum deposit create a broader account than most simplified trading apps.
The main compromise is specialist platform choice. Traders who require cTrader, MetaTrader, TradingView execution, raw-spread pricing or UK spread betting should compare other brokers first.
The 8.5/10 rating therefore reflects a well-regulated and increasingly complete platform with active-trader limitations rather than credibility problems.
GradTraders verdict: choose XTB when conventional investing and CFD trading need to share one modern account. Choose a specialist active-trader broker when platform portability and execution structure matter more.
