IC Markets Review 2026: Is It The Best Broker For Active Traders?

IC Markets is the broker I currently use for short-term index trading after years of trading through firms including IG, CMC Markets and Plus500. This review is built around that direct account, platform and withdrawal experience, then checks the current Standard, Raw Spread, cTrader and TradingView routes, pricing, leverage and client protection. IC Markets operates internationally, so readers should also confirm the exact legal entity and account conditions available in their own country.

59-Second IC Markets Review

A concise summary of the 9.2/10 verdict, platform strengths and main Global-entity limitation.

GradTraders Rating 9.2/10 Active-Trader Broker Benchmark

Best suited to experienced CFD, forex and index traders who value cTrader, TradingView, MetaTrader and Raw pricing routes.

Main caution: account protections, leverage, availability and total costs depend on the accepting entity and chosen platform route.

Disclosure & Risk Notice: This article is educational and informational content, not financial advice, investment advice, tax advice or a personal recommendation. CFDs, forex and other leveraged derivatives can cause rapid losses. Under the IC Markets Global route reviewed here, losses can exceed the amount deposited in adverse conditions.

GradTraders has a commercial relationship with IC Markets. If an eligible reader opens an account through a GradTraders tracked link, GradTraders may earn commission at no additional cost. That relationship does not determine the independent 9.2/10 rating, remove the weaknesses recorded in this review or replace the direct-use evidence described below.

International partner route: readers in eligible non-UK jurisdictions can visit IC Markets Global through the GradTraders affiliate link. This link is not intended for UK residents. Raw Trading Ltd currently lists the United States, Canada and New Zealand among restricted countries, and other local restrictions can apply. Check your country gateway and the broker’s current legal documents before opening an account.

IC Markets Review Quick Verdict: The Active-Trader Benchmark

IC Markets remains my preferred broker for short-term CFD and index trading. cTrader, TradingView, Raw pricing, MetaTrader support and multiple completed withdrawals give this review stronger direct-use evidence than a research-only broker assessment.

The 9.2/10 rating reflects how well the broker fits the way I actually trade. For my Japan 225 workflow, the spread and platform experience have been stronger than several brokers I used previously. That is my own experience rather than a promise about every market or session.

The main weakness is the protection framework on the Global account I use with Raw Trading Ltd in Seychelles. IC Markets Global offers very high dynamic leverage and its Help Centre says clients are responsible for negative balances. International readers should also confirm which IC Markets entity serves their country, because the products and protections can differ from the account reviewed here.

GradTraders Rating

9.2/10 — the direct-use benchmark for experienced active traders.

Best For

Experienced CFD, forex, index, scalping and platform-focused traders.

Best Platform Fit

cTrader and TradingView, with MT4 and MT5 for MetaTrader workflows.

Main Caution

Global entity, no negative-balance protection and highly flexible leverage.

Affiliate eligibility: the IC Markets Global partner link is intended for eligible non-UK jurisdictions only. Raw Trading Ltd currently lists the United States, Canada and New Zealand among restricted countries; other local restrictions can apply.

IC Markets Around The World: Start With Your Country Gateway

IC Markets should not be treated as one identical account worldwide. A global broker brand can sit above different legal entities, regulators, product sets and client-protection rules, and a service discussed on one country site may not be available on the same terms somewhere else.

GradTraders now has 20 country gateways built to give readers local market, regulatory and provider context before they use central broker research such as this review. Select your country below, then return here to assess the IC Markets platform, pricing and direct-use evidence against the exact route available to you.

Important: a country gateway is a local research route, not a statement that IC Markets accepts residents of that country or uses the same legal entity there. Confirm the provider’s current eligibility, client agreement and regulatory entity before opening or funding an account. The GradTraders International hub links the full country network.

Current Global-route restriction: Raw Trading Ltd currently lists the United States, Canada and New Zealand among jurisdictions whose residents it does not accept. Those three GradTraders gateways are included for local trading research and alternatives, not as IC Markets Global account-access routes.

UK Regulatory Note

The Global account reviewed in this article is not an FCA-authorised UK retail account. The FCA updated its warning for IC Markets Global on 10 August 2026 and states that the firm is not authorised by it and may be targeting people in the UK. UK residents should not use the IC Markets Global affiliate link on this page or treat the Seychelles-regulated account described here as a UK-authorised route. Review the FCA warning.

This is a UK-specific restriction within an otherwise international review. Readers elsewhere should still check the exact IC Markets entity, eligibility and protections that apply in their own country.

Which IC Markets Account Should You Choose?

The core Global routes differ mainly by platform and how trading costs are charged. The current account page also lists Raw Pro and Raw Pro+ as early-access MetaTrader products with much higher entry thresholds, so they are not treated as the default retail comparison in this review.

Simpler Pricing Structure

Standard MetaTrader

Available through MT4 and MT5 with no separate commission on the core pricing model. More of the trading cost is built into the spread.

GradTraders view: the easiest route to understand, but active traders should compare the complete spread and overnight cost on the exact instrument.

MT4 / MT5No Separate Commission
MetaTrader Active Route

Raw Spread MetaTrader

Available through MT4 and MT5 with Raw-style pricing and a currently listed commission of $3.50 per standard lot per side.

GradTraders view: the strongest core route for MetaTrader automation, Expert Advisors, scalping and commission-aware forex trading.

MT4 / MT5$3.50 Per Lot / Side
Matthew’s Platform Fit

cTrader Raw / TradingView

The cTrader account also provides the TradingView connection. Commission is currently listed at $3 per USD 100,000 traded per side for the relevant forex and metals pricing.

GradTraders view: the clearest fit for my own analysis-and-execution workflow and for traders who prefer cTrader over MetaTrader.

cTraderTradingView Integration
Do not choose from “Raw” or “Standard” alone. Compare the exact instrument spread, commission method, swap or financing charge, platform, base currency, legal entity and margin framework. A Raw account is not automatically cheaper on every market.

IC Markets Rating Breakdown

The category scores are editorial judgements rather than a mathematical promise. The overall 9.2/10 is not a simple average: it gives particular weight to direct account use, platform fit, trading costs, withdrawals, entity protection and suitability. My Live Experience Using IC Markets

I opened my IC Markets account after years of trading through brokers including IG Index, CMC Markets and Plus500, as well as testing the FTMO challenge environment. IC Markets became my preferred broker because it combined the active-trader features I wanted without forcing me into one execution platform.

My main focus is the Japan 225, especially around the Sunday futures open and Monday morning session. I usually wait for selective, high-conviction setups rather than taking dozens of trades. In my experience, the Japan 225 spread has been the tightest I have personally encountered among the brokers I have used, which matters when a position may remain open for only a few minutes.

I also value analysing through TradingView and executing through cTrader. I have not encountered the same pattern of unexpected platform delays, sign-out problems or unexplained spread behaviour that frustrated me with some earlier setups. That observation is personal and cannot guarantee another trader’s execution.

Multiple completed withdrawals provide further direct evidence. The first sequence confused me, but once I understood the requirement to return deposited funds through the original payment route before moving profits through another eligible method, the process became straightforward.

Platforms: cTrader, TradingView, MT4 And MT5

cTrader

My preferred execution environment for discretionary active trading, with a cleaner interface and C# automation route.

TradingView

Connected through the cTrader account and central to my charting, indicator and market-preparation workflow.

MetaTrader 4

Still relevant for established forex workflows, custom indicators, scripts and Expert Advisors.

MetaTrader 5

The broader MetaTrader route for multi-asset CFD trading and newer automated strategies.

Platform choice changes the account route, commission calculation, programming language and product range. TradingView users should confirm they are opening the compatible cTrader account rather than assuming every IC Markets login connects.

Spreads, Commissions And Total Trading Cost

IC Markets is strongest when the trader compares total cost rather than one advertised spread. Standard accounts build more of the charge into the spread. Raw accounts can display tighter market pricing while charging a separate commission. Overnight financing, conversion and instrument-specific conditions can outweigh the headline difference.

The current Global account page lists $3.50 per standard lot per side on Raw Spread MetaTrader. The cTrader and TradingView route lists $3 per USD 100,000 traded per side for relevant forex and metals transactions.

Indices are especially important to my own use case because the complete cost can behave differently from forex commission examples. Always check the live instrument specification during the session you actually trade.

A spread “from 0.0” is not an average total cost. Compare the observed spread, separate commission, overnight funding, slippage and currency conversion on the exact account and instrument.

Leverage, Dynamic Margin And Negative-Balance Risk

The current IC Markets Global framework advertises maximum leverage of up to 1:5000 for forex on core MetaTrader routes and up to 1:1000 on cTrader. Instrument limits are lower for indices, stocks, commodities and other products.

Leverage is tiered dynamically. As position exposure increases, parts of the trade move into lower-leverage tiers and require more margin. Higher Margin Requirement periods can also apply around end-of-day rollover, major news and weekends.

The most important protection point is easy to miss: IC’s Global Help Centre states that clients are responsible for negative balances that can arise from gaps or thin liquidity. The maximum loss should therefore not be assumed to stop automatically at the deposited balance.

This is the main risk correction to the older review. High leverage and the absence of Global negative-balance protection make strict position sizing, free margin and gap-risk control essential.

IC Markets Regulation Around The World: Entity Before Brand

This review focuses on IC Markets Global, a trading name of Raw Trading Ltd. The company is authorised by the Seychelles Financial Services Authority as a Securities Dealer under licence SD018.

Other IC Markets entities illustrate why country context matters. In Australia, International Capital Markets Pty Ltd is regulated by ASIC under Australian Financial Services Licence 335692. In the European Union, IC Markets (EU) Ltd is authorised and regulated by CySEC under licence 362/18. Those locally regulated routes are separate from the Seychelles Global account reviewed from direct experience here, and their products, leverage, protections and eligibility should not be assumed to match.

IC also advertises insolvency insurance for Raw Trading Ltd clients, with stated coverage up to US$1 million for all claimants. That is a positive additional layer, but it should not be treated as interchangeable with any statutory investor-compensation or complaint arrangement that may apply through a locally regulated entity elsewhere. The certificate, limits and claim conditions should be read directly.

The combination is therefore mixed: a regulated legal entity and advertised insolvency insurance on one side, but no Global negative-balance protection and no reason to assume that the statutory protections of another IC Markets jurisdiction transfer to the Seychelles account.

International rule: legal entity beats brand. Use the country gateways above for local context, then match the entity named in your client agreement to the relevant regulator and current product documents.

Check before depositing: the legal company, regulator, licence, insurance certificate, segregation wording, negative-balance treatment, complaint route, country eligibility and account agreement.

Withdrawals And Account Funding

My withdrawal experience has been positive overall. The initial difficulty was understanding that IC may require withdrawals to follow previously used deposit methods in a sequence determined by its payment controls.

Once I understood the return-to-source process, I completed multiple withdrawals without further difficulty. That direct experience supports confidence in the operational process, although another client may use different payment methods, checks and processing times.

IC currently says it does not charge additional deposit or withdrawal fees, although intermediary banks and payment providers can still charge and a processing fee may apply where deposited funds have not been used for trading. Before funding, check the return sequence, cut-off times, card expiry process, conversion costs and required supporting documents.

Is IC Markets Legit?

In the GradTraders view, IC Markets Global is a legitimate and established CFD broker route. Raw Trading Ltd is authorised by the Seychelles FSA, publishes account and legal documentation, and I have direct trading and withdrawal experience with the broker.

That conclusion must not be overstated. Legitimacy does not make the Seychelles Global entity equivalent to locally regulated retail routes in other countries, guarantee execution or withdrawals in every case, or remove the possibility of losing more than the deposited balance.

The useful question is whether the exact entity available to you provides enough platform and pricing value to justify its protection framework, leverage and product rules in your jurisdiction.

Important distinction: Direct positive experience supports the review, but it does not override the contract, regulator, dynamic margin system or negative-balance liability.

IC Markets Review Final Verdict: Would I Continue Using It?

Yes. IC Markets remains my preferred broker for the short-term CFD and index-trading workflow I use today. cTrader, TradingView, Raw pricing choices, platform reliability and completed withdrawals make it difficult to replace for that specific purpose.

The 9.2/10 rating is based on those strengths and on direct use, not on the idea that IC Markets is perfect. The Global account I use carries weaker client-protection features than some locally regulated alternatives, leverage can be extremely high and clients can be responsible for negative balances.

International readers need one additional check before deciding whether the review fits them: identify the IC Markets entity available in their country and compare its products, leverage and protections with the Raw Trading Ltd account described here. The 20 GradTraders country gateways are there to make that local check easier.

GradTraders verdict: 9.2/10 and the Active-Trader Broker Benchmark. For experienced traders who value cTrader, TradingView, Raw pricing and flexible execution routes, IC Markets remains one of the strongest brokers in the GradTraders bank.

Eligibility note: the IC Markets Global partner link is not intended for UK residents. Raw Trading Ltd currently lists the United States, Canada and New Zealand among restricted countries. Confirm current eligibility and the accepting entity before opening an account.

IC Markets Review FAQ

Is IC Markets good for active traders?

Yes, in the GradTraders view. IC Markets is especially strong for experienced CFD and forex traders who value Raw pricing, cTrader, TradingView and MetaTrader. The exact entity, leverage, products and protections vary by country, so the 9.2/10 rating should be read alongside the local route available to you.

How should international readers use this IC Markets review?

Start with the GradTraders country gateway for your jurisdiction, then use this review to assess the platform, pricing and direct-use evidence. The 20 gateways cover Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, India, the United States, UAE, Singapore, Canada, Australia, Mexico, Italy, Sweden, New Zealand, Switzerland, Germany, Norway, South Africa, Thailand and Saudi Arabia. A gateway provides local context; it does not guarantee IC Markets availability in that country.

Which IC Markets account is best?

The Standard account is simpler for traders who prefer commission-free spread pricing. Raw Spread MetaTrader is stronger for MT4 or MT5 users, Expert Advisors and commission-aware active traders. The cTrader Raw account is the clearest route for cTrader and TradingView users.

What is the minimum deposit at IC Markets Global?

The current IC account overview lists a zero-dollar minimum deposit for the core Standard, Raw Spread MetaTrader and cTrader accounts. Traders should still deposit only an amount appropriate to the instrument, margin requirement and personal risk plan.

Is IC Markets Global regulated?

Raw Trading Ltd is regulated by the Seychelles Financial Services Authority under Securities Dealer licence SD018. That describes the Global route reviewed here, not every IC Markets entity worldwide. International readers should confirm the legal company serving their country and the protections attached to that account. In the UK specifically, the FCA warning updated on 10 August 2026 says IC Markets Global is not FCA-authorised and may be targeting people in the UK.

Does IC Markets Global provide negative-balance protection?

IC’s current Global Help Centre says clients are responsible for negative balances that can arise in adverse market conditions. Traders should not assume their loss is automatically limited to the amount deposited.

Does IC Markets work with TradingView?

Yes. IC provides TradingView integration through its cTrader account route. The cTrader and TradingView commission is currently calculated by traded notional value, so traders should confirm the compatible account and current pricing before opening it.

Does IC Markets offer spread betting?

The IC Markets Global route reviewed here is presented as a CFD and forex account rather than a conventional UK spread-betting account. UK traders who require spread betting should compare FCA-facing providers and confirm the legal and tax position independently.

Source note: This IC Markets review combines Matthew Jackson’s live trading and withdrawal experience with IC Markets Global account, pricing, leverage, platform, funding, insurance and regulatory information rechecked on 31 August 2026, alongside the GradTraders review methodology. The 20 GradTraders country gateways provide separate local regulatory and market context. Account availability and specifications can change by jurisdiction, so confirm the accepting legal entity, current legal documents and live product pages before depositing.
